Japan Crisis

Tokyo, March 25
RADIATION fears escalated in Japan on Friday after workers suffered burns as they tried to cool an earthquake-crippled nuclear power station, confusion over whether it was widening an evacution zone around the plant.
Prime Minister Naoto Kan, making his first public statement on the crisis in a week, said the situation at the Fukushima nuclear complex north of Tokyo was "nowhere near the point" of being resolved. "We are making efforts to prevent it from getting worse, but I feel we cannot become complacement," he told reporters. "We must continue to be on our guard." The comments reflected a spike of unease in Japan after several days of slow but steady progress in containing the nuclear accident, which was triggered by a devastating earthquake and tsunami two weeks ago.
The 9.0 magnitude quake and giant waves it triggered left more than 10,000 people dead and 17,00 missing. As shocking as that toll is' much attention sinse the March 11 disaster has been on the possibility of a catastrophic meltdown at Fukushima, 240 km. north of Tokyo.

550 dreview

Canon's EOS 550D  is the company's latest upper entry-level DSLR. It is announced in February 2010 in North America, it's numerically the successor to the EOS 500D / T1i, although the older model is expected to remain on-sale at a lower price point throughout 2010.

Externally the EOS 550D / T2i greatly resembles its predecessor with similar dimensions, weight, build, styling and controls, but as Canon tradition dictates, it inherits a number of key aspects from a higher-end model in the range (in this case the EOS 7D), along with at least one brand new feature.
From the 7D, the EOS 550D / T2i inherits the same 18 Megapixel resolution (albeit with a slightly different sensor), the same 100-6400 ISO sensitivity range (with 12,800 ISO expansion), the choice of 1080p or 720p movies at a variety of frame rates, an external stereo microphone input and the same 63-zone iCFL metering. Continuous shooting is understandably much slower than the 7D, but still slightly quicker than the 500D / T1i at 3.7fps, albeit with fewer frames in the buffer. The EOS 550D / T2i's unique new feature in the EOS range is a 3in 1040k screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio which matches the shape of its sensor.

Mount Everest

Mount Everest is the highest peak in the world which is 8848 metres high . It was formed in the last few million years ago.First recognized as the highest peek in 1852, it got its western name ten years later in 1862. Mount Everest was named for Sir George Everest (1790-1866), a British surveyor. Surveyors don't agree on the height of Mount Everest. The British government in the 1800's thought the height was 29,002 feet. In 1954 the Indian government said it's 29,028 feet, but a widely used unofficial figure says it is 29,141 feet.
Mount Everest sits on the border between Nepal and Tibet. People from the western hemisphere weren't allowed to climb Mount Everest until the early 1920's. The first known climb that made it to the top was made by a New Zealander named Sir Edmund Hillary and a Napalese named Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. They climbed the mountain in 1953. Since then Everest has been climbed by 400 people. Access is restricted by the Nepalese to prevent too much damage to the environment.
Mount Everest is  the heart of Nepal. Nepal is known as the "The country of Mount Everest " in the world. Our country Nepal and we Nepalese people can proudly say that world's highest mountain "Mount Everest" is located in Nepal.

Mountaineering

Nepal since 1950, has been getting the people in quest of snow clad Himalayan giants. Nepal  has  eight  tallest peaks  among  14  in  the whole  world. Since  early 19th century  the mountains  have been  posing tempting destinations and all kinds of  challenges to  all human beings.
Annapurna one is the first over 8000 metres mountain that was climbed in 1950 and Sir Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Norgey Sherpa first climbed Everest, the highest peak on the earth in 1953. Besides these there are other giants like Kanchenjunga ,8587metres, Lhotse  8516 metres, Makalu 8463metres,Cho Oyo  8201metres, Dhaulagiri  8167metres, Manaslu 8163 metres. Nepal also offers hundreds and more of other trekking peaks all over the Nepal in the north that is equally very challenging to summit.
The trekking infact is the only and bestway to explore Nepal’s unrivaled natural beauty and culturally rich areas and is the bestway to see and experience the real Nepal. The vast contrast in altitude and climate found in Nepal has helped sprout an eqaully striking concoction of pristine nature and divergent lifestyles. Trekking in the high country of Nepal is both for cultural and wilderness experience. The villages in the hills are picturesque, inhabited by diverse ethnic communities like Magar, Gurungs,Tamang, Rai/Limbus etc who has earned their name in British/Indian army as famous gurkhas.

Map of Nepal with Mountains

Nepal is divided in three zones:
The terrai
In the south part of Nepal are the lowland of the terrai. They are the part of the gangetic plain and lower than 200 m from sea level.
The hills
North of the terrai region there are two distinct hilly ranges.
First the sivalik hills, green and about 500 metres hight. Then rise the Mahabharata hills, up to 3000 m . When we approach Kathmandu, the planes are litteraly shaving the mahabharata range and we can recognise the houses of the farms and the people working in the fields.
The middle of  Nepal is a hilly Landscape, with the hills between 300 and 3000 m. The hills up to 1500 metres are mainly inhabited by hindu cast people, while above we will find the  hill tribes.
The mountains
This is what most of tourist think about, when they hear Nepal.  The mountains of Nepal are deffinitively unique in the world. There are streched in the north and quite a few of the biggest form the frontier with Tibet. In Nepal groups of Mountains form huge Mountain ranges of 50 Km .

Mountains : Face of the earth

Over long periods of time, mountains are created by tremendous forces in the earth with a steep top usually shaped up to a peak or ridge. Mountains occur more often in oceans than on land; some islands are the peaks of mountains coming out of the water. Mountains are formed by volcanism, erosion, and disturbances or uplift in the earth's crust. Most geologists believe that the majority of mountains are formed by geological forces heat and pressure producing changes under the earth's crust and movements in the earth's crust. They call this movement plate tectonics. This theory sees the crust of the earth divided into a number of vast rigid plates that move about at the rate of a few centimeters a year. The uplift is caused by the collision of plates below the earth's surface that triggers various geologic processes that produce this crustal uplift. Other processes are caused by horizontal compression that is the deformation of crustal strata which produces folds or wrinkles. The Himalayas, for example, were raised by the compression that accompanied collision of the Indian plate with the Eurasian plate. Another example is Europe's Alps and Jura mountains which were also formed by horizontal compression, generated in their case by collision with the African plate and the Eurasian plate.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Mountains:

The Advantages of  mountains are as follows:
1. The good tourist attractions,
2. The house dwarves,
3. It collects water and store it to provide water to otherwise arid places,
4. It counterbalance the other mountains to stabilize the Earth's orbit,
5. It provides dividing lands for the countries,
6. It affects the climate,
7.The water boils at lower temperatures due to less pressure at the high altitudes.
Many  fun activities  can be played  such as skiing, snowboarding and much more as well as that the clean and  fresh air helps the tourists stay  fresh and  healthy. It helps to keep the environment  always fresh and clean. It provides land for two countries just like a wall between two rooms.Mountains store snow pack for water in the summertime. It cause clouds to rise and release rainfall. We can always find entertaining waterfalls, caves and ornamental plants in mountainous environment.

The disadvantages of mountains are as follows:
1. Mudslides and forest fires frequently occur on mountainslides,
2.It encourage silly humans to climb which is very risk for human life,
3.It is too cold to live near the mountains and hilly areas that is dangerous.
4.The volcano could erupt and destroy all  the  sceneryand causes bad gases, ash, vapour. flying rocks that are huge and hot.
