Introduction
A mass of land that projects well above its surroundings is called mountain. It is generally steeper and higher than the hills. The adjective montane is used to describe mountainous areas and things associated with them. All the world's major rivers are fed from mountain sources. It is a large landform that stretches above the surrounding land in a limited area usually in the form of a peak. The study of the mountains is called Orography. There are so many mountains in the world but among them eight top mountains are situated in Nepal only. Mount Everest is the highest peak in the world.The second highest mountain is K2 which is called Karakoram, mount Godwin Austen situated in Pakistan and the third highest mountain is Kanchenjunga situated in Nepal. The other top mountains situated in Nepal are : Lhotse, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Nanga Parbat, Annapurna etc. Nepal is also called "The country of mountains" in the world.
