Map of Nepal with Mountains

Nepal is divided in three zones:
The terrai
In the south part of Nepal are the lowland of the terrai. They are the part of the gangetic plain and lower than 200 m from sea level.
The hills
North of the terrai region there are two distinct hilly ranges.
First the sivalik hills, green and about 500 metres hight. Then rise the Mahabharata hills, up to 3000 m . When we approach Kathmandu, the planes are litteraly shaving the mahabharata range and we can recognise the houses of the farms and the people working in the fields.
The middle of  Nepal is a hilly Landscape, with the hills between 300 and 3000 m. The hills up to 1500 metres are mainly inhabited by hindu cast people, while above we will find the  hill tribes.
The mountains
This is what most of tourist think about, when they hear Nepal.  The mountains of Nepal are deffinitively unique in the world. There are streched in the north and quite a few of the biggest form the frontier with Tibet. In Nepal groups of Mountains form huge Mountain ranges of 50 Km .
